Start out in the elegant city of Vienna and allow yourself enough time to take in the many sites of interest in this beautiful Austrian capital. Cross the border from Austria into The Czech Republic to discover the unusual combination of neatly harvested vineyards, beautiful lakes, spectacular limestone cliffs and picturesque Bohemian villages.

Meeting Point: Franz Joseph rail station in Vienna at 09:00.
Ending Point: Prague rail station at about 15:30.
Terrain: Moderate inclines and declines. Mostly on country roads and some city streets.

Bicycle Equipment: Model-Sumava Gent bicycles with ALU Frame and suspension fork. 24 speed hybrid bike with front bag, small rack, lock, pump and extra tube. No helmets are provided. Woman`s bikes are 17″ OR 19″, men`s 19″ or 21″.
Rating: Accommodations are in 3* hotels or pensions. Hearty full breakfasts are included. Meal recommendations are given for lunches. Local contact provides briefing and bike fitting on day one. Otherwise the local contact is available for emergencies only.
2006 Self Guided Dates: Daily departures May- September

Day 1 Please be dressed to ride. Your guide will meet you in Vienna at the Franz Joseph Railway Station waiting area between 9 and 10am to drive you to the outskirts of Vienna. Here you will be fitted for your bike and you are off on you biking adventure. On the summits of a limestone ridge that sharply rises from the flat land of Moravia and Austria there are ruins of two castles. At Doini Vestonice, near the River Dyje, lies a former settlement of the older stone age.Overnight Cejkovice.

Day 2 Bike from Cejkovice to Lednice chateau to visit its gardens and parks. Visit the Apollo Temple, the Temple of the Three graces and Rybnicny Chateau. Overnight Cejkovice.

Day 3 Transfer to Telc to visit its renaissance and baroque buildings. Telc is one of the most beautiful Moravian towns first mentioned in the 13th century. It is considered as a unique historical town reserve and is preserved under UNESCO status. From Telc bike to Jindrichuv Hradec and explore this fortified town dating from the 13th century. Then on to Trebon. Overnight, Trebon.

Day 4 Set out around the biggest ponds in the Czech Republic, Svet and Rozmberk. These ponds were the first to produce fish commercially. Enjoy local fish and beer and visit the Czech brewery Regent in Trebon. Overnight, Trebon.

Day 5 Transfer to Vyssi Brod to visit its 13th century monastery and world renowned library from the 17th century. Then follow the river Vltava (Moldau) to Cesky Krumlov where you may want to visit the 5th century Celtic castle. Cesky Krumlov is one of the most important historical town reserves in the Czech Republic. It has also been preserved under UNESCO status. Overnight, Cesky Krumlov.

Day 6 Transfer to Lipno Lake. From there bike all the way down the hill to Vyssi Brod. Visit the monastery. Then continue by the side of Vltava River back to Cesky Krumlov.

Day 7 Today bike to Hluboka nad Vltavou Castle, then through Protivin to the historical town of Pisek.

Day 8 Shorter biking day with early afternoon arrival in Prague.
